Mid-face lift procedure, your best cosmetic surgery choice abroad !!

Mid Facelift

As the skin loses elasticity and tone with ageing the cheeks and eyelids tend to sag creating a tired look. A mid facelift surgery targets the area around the nose, eyes, and corners of the mouth to restore a smooth, youthful look.

This procedure is especially effective when the neck and areas beneath the chin do not require lifting. Also many surgeons use endoscopic face lift techniques to improve precision and recovery time.

The surgery

The surgeon makes small, deep incisions in the muscle tissue of the face above the ear during a mid facelift. Another incision is made either inside the mouth or in the lower eyelid. An endoscope may be inserted through the incisions to view the procedure internally. Then the doctor adjusts the fat and muscle tissue, pulling up the middle of the face to tighten the skin. Finally, the surgeon uses sutures to keep the tissues in place and to close the incisions.

There are two different mid facelift techniques. In the traditional technique, the surgeon uses an incision hidden in the lower lash line to access the cheeks and lower eyelids. An incision in the nasolabial fold is also necessary sometimes. This traditional technique is best suited in cases where the tissues need to be lifted upward, rather than horizontally or diagonally.

Another technique is used to produce a more dramatic result. In this case, the surgeon makes two small endoscopic incisions in the temples concealed in the hairline to perform the surgery. This technique allows the surgeon to lift facial muscles and skin both vertically and diagonally.

The techniques

Surgeons have two different mid facelift techniques at their disposal. In the traditional technique, the surgeon gains access to the cheeks and lower eyelids by using an incision hidden in the lower lash line. Sometimes a surgeon will also make an incision in the nasolabial fold. This traditional technique is best suited to patients primarily needing their tissues to be lifted upward, rather than horizontally or diagonally.

The second technique is able to produce somewhat more dramatic results. In this method, the procedure is performed through two endoscopic incisions placed in the temples, hidden behind the hairline. This gives the surgeon a pair of access points through which he can lift facial muscles and skin both vertically and diagonally.

Regardless of which technique is used, the mid facelift is able to correct under-eye bags, hollowness in the upper cheeks, and prominent nasal folds.

After the surgery

After a mid facelift, the recovery time is about one week. It may even be shorter if an endoscopic mid facelift techniques are used. Bruising and swelling occurs, but it is less than in the case of standard facelifts.

Complications and risks

Every surgery presents some complications and risks. The most common complications include: bruising, swelling, bleeding, blood clotting, infection, scarring and negative reaction to anaesthesia.

After a mid facelift nerve damage can occur in rare cases, sometimes requiring a second operation to make corrections. Temporary hair loss may occur around the incisions. The area of the surgery may be numb, but it usually goes away over the time.

You can avoid most complications by choosing the right cosmetic surgeon and following pre- and postoperative instructions.
